Wattle panels, Wooden poles, Latte, Tomato Poles, Droppers and other Wooden Products.

In order to sustainably remove the existing wattle we are using the wood to produce various products. This source of income is used to further remove black wattle from the farm.

It is our goal to replace the trees removed with indigenous and bearing trees. Fruit and nut trees as well as citrus and olives will hopefully replace the wattle that is being removed. The following are some products currently being produced by Wattle Wood Farm.

Wattle screens, Wattle Wood poles, Wooden Droppers for Fences, Latte, Tomato Poles and Charcoal / Firewood.

Lattice Roofs, Droppers and Sticks

These reffer collectively to thinner trees or branches cut to different lengths. Panels are normally made from material this thick.

Droppers or Latte are used for fences especially farm fences where the wood lends a viasual indicator for animals.

Another popular use is to create a lattice roof structure that is partially shaded as seen in the pictures above.

Prices vary depending on the thickness and length of sticks required.

Wooden Droppers & Poles at Cheap Prices

Wooden Droppers for Fences and Wood Poles for planting at cheap prices. Black Wattle was introduced into South Africa as a cheap source of Wood Poles & Droppers. This still applies as our droppers and wooden poles are still cheap and our prices reflect as much. Steel fencing droppers have become unaffordable especially with the scrap metal value of the steel causing them to grow legs. Wooden Droppers are a much cheaper alternative for fencing especially farm fences. Not only are they much cheaper to buy but they do not get stolen either.

When Wattle trees germinate in close proximity like after a bush fire, they race upwards for sunlight. Each trying to grow above the others around it. This results in tall long trunks with few lateral braches. Braches and leaves are mostly found at the top of the tree. These make for ideal wooden wattle droppers and poles. Bark can also be removed so the poles can be treated. We donot treate the wooden poles.

Wooden droppers and poles vary in length from 1,2 m to 4.2 m. The diameter (width) varies depending on the application :

  • 1,5 - 2.5 cm wooden droppers for fencing, screens and panels  From R1.50 each per m
  • 3 - 4 cm for tomato poles or poles for beans, peppers etc From R2.50 each per m
